Prost!

Prost!

Cheers! It’s long been the normal thing to do when toasting with someone, but this storied tradition has a long history. Back in the Middle Ages, it was literally a matter of life and death. When getting poisoned by a seemingly harmless drink was a regular occurrence, people made sure to toast so hard that liquid would spill into the other person’s mug. Ensuring that if poisoned, your enemy would be dead as well.

The word Prost comes from the Latin prodesse and can be translated to to your health. It’s a serious ritual among friends: no one is allowed to drink without a toast to everyone on the table. Here’s to your health: Prost!
